About Us
Jerry O’Neil was born at Kalispell, Montana in 1943 and grew up in a 2 parent home across from the family’s retail lumber yard. He attended Elrod Grade School, Central Junior High School and Flathead County High School. After graduating from high school in 1961, Jerry has attended MSU at Bozeman, U of M at Missoula, and FVCC at Kalispell. He presently has 5 children and 11 grandchildren. Jerry and his wife, Jeanne, live on Walsh Road, southwest of Columbia Falls. He enjoys canoeing, fishing and hiking with Jeanne and his dog, Anne. After high school he ran a retail service station until he went broke. Then he went to Seattle, Washington, and after working as a tool maker and numerical controlled machine operator 7 days a week for a year paid off the debts from the service station.
In 1984, after successfully defending his family in court from religious extremists, Jerry was invited to speak before a group of parents who were interested in improving Montana’s family laws. In order to help one of the parents whose child had been taken to the Blackfeet Reservation, Jerry applied for and received a license to practice law before the Blackfeet Tribal Courts. Also to help families having divorces, Jerry started a business as a mediator and independent paralegal which he presently runs.
Jerry became involved in lobbying the Montana Legislator to improve laws affecting families, limited government and use of our resources. Jerry successfully ran for the Montana State Senate where he term limited out after serving for 8 years. He then served 4 years in the Montana House of Representatives and has a12 year history of voting for families, smaller government and freedom. He recently won a 30 year epic battle to expand the public’s right to receive help with their legal affairs from non-traditional sources.
